I have thick straight heavy hair, and a lot of hair. Often clips from drug stores/big box stores just aren’t robust enough to hold up my hair if I twist it up in back (either they don’t open wide enough and/or claws aren’t long enough to get through the hair). I bought a clip when in Hong Kong once, I guess geared for Asian hair that worked really well, but that broke after 6 years of daily use. Since then, I was using the scuuni ones, but although they are a little more robust and grippy w/their rubber nubs, they are heavy and not very comfortable. After the spring on my last clip broke, I decided to just try these w/very low expectations – the cost for 8 is less than half the price of three that I used to buy. I was shocked and how well they work and can’t believe I was spending $ on the drug store variety every year. These actually work. They are slightly bigger than the one that I was using (measurements listed are correct), have a super strong spring, and are actually comfortable to wear. My only critique so far is that there are little sharp pointy areas at the sides where the formed plastic components are split apart from each other during the manufacturing process. It doesn’t affect the function at all, but I like smooth surfaces and didn’t want it to catch on my hair or scratch my fingers, so I just took a file to those areas and easily filed them down. For the cost, one can’t complain. All arrived intact. Now, I hope they all hold up for at least a year w/out breaking.

BEST clips for long hair
Love these clips. I have hair that goes down half my back and it’s thick and these clips are large in size and strong enough. They also don’t hurt my head which is a plus. I would purchase again.

I was excited to see this affordable pack of claw clips and I don’t regret purchasing. The springs all work properly and they grip enough to keep everything in place but don’t grip so hard that you get a headache.I have long hair (below the chest) but very fine/straight hair. So most tools and bands pull/fall out super easy. But I’ve not had one of these claw clips slip even once. They do fit all of my hair up in a french twist sorta thing.I do kinda have a technique: I put my hair up where I want it and hold it with one hand. Then I open the clip with the other hand, use one side to catch some hair to the right of my twisted hair, then make sure to open the clip enough to go over the twisted hair and catch the teeth in the hair to the left of the twisted strands. THEN I make sure to gently but firmly push the clip closed as much as I can. After that, it stays secure all day.I really like the colors as well. I have brown hair but the colors are still flattering. Even the clear–ish clips look nice.
