Lifetime Manual Brusher is Very Pleased
My dentist and hygienist finally talked me into getting a sonic toothbrush. I had avoided battery operated toothbrushes as my experience with the old side to side models in the 1970’s was dismal. After searching Consumer Reports and Amazon reviews I finally selected the Sonicare 5300 model. The product arrived in perfect condition, already charged and included 3 brushes. My first impression was its slim, well designed, light weight and well made. It has 3 settings as advertised and they are super easy to change.I followed the directions which came with it (I included flossing first). It was a bit strange as only a dab of toothpaste is needed, and the brush head does all the work. Just glide it over the teeth with mouth closed at a 45-degree angle for 30 seconds per quadrant (4 quadrants to the teeth or 2 minutes total). The beep tells you to move to another quadrant. So easy!My teeth felt VERY clean which honestly surprised me. I’ll continue using it twice a day until my next appointment in 6 months and see if it gets approval for keeping my teeth plaque free. I don’t care so much about its whitening effect as I enjoy my coffee and tea – I am concerned about plaque which is caused by bacteria’s actions with sugars and carbs left on the teeth. Also, as a senior, I want to have it stimulate my gums to avoid premature shrinkage.I opted to NOT get the pricier models that had smartphone app features as that’s just something else that can go wrong, harvest information, become obsolete, clutter the smartphone, etc. Keep it simple. The 5300 works well; will likely need to buy a new one in 5 or 10 years if the battery goes out. Otherwise, its a definite “keeper”.

Very Good Choice for a Basic Electric Toothbrush
I’ve had a few electric toothbrushes over the years and this one might be my fave.First of all, I love the small footprint. It takes up almost no space on my sink. Of course it sits in the cradle vertically, but the cradle is so tiny. The toothbrush just easily pops on and off for usage. There are a few different settings with this toothbrush. I don’t like a toothbrush telling me when to switch areas, so I just have it set for a couple minutes and move it around. So easy! The brush works great and replacement heads are easy to find here or on Phillips’ website. For the price, this is a great basic, easy to use electric toothbrush.

Never manual again
Honestly, I was hesitant to buy an electric toothbrush, but I’d always wanted to try one. So I looked up reviews everywhere—videos, expert opinions, and everything else. I know it might’ve been a bit much, but let’s be real: when it comes to price, you think twice. In this case, I took advantage of an Amazon deal and decided to go for it. I compared several brands—some even offered 3D videos—but hey, it’s a toothbrush, not a trip to the moon. The prices of other models seemed outrageous and overly complicated, so I went with this brand and model, and honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t do it sooner. For me, it’s the best way to brush, and I’m not going back to manual—I feel my teeth are much cleaner and I can really notice the difference. It’s not the cheapest option (more of a mid-range), but I think it’s more than enough—again, it’s not a trip to the moon. You do need to learn how to use it (which is super easy), and it even comes with a manual, plus you can download the digital version online. As a bonus, they include two brush heads and a beautiful, practical case.

BrushSync doesn’t work, false advertising with warranty slip, but otherwise seems fine
The manual essentially suggests you use the C (clean) head, but the brush doesn’t come with it. For some reason it comes with 2 W (whitening) heads and 1 G (gum) head. Doesn’t really make sense. The “BrushSync” feature is supposed to switch the mode of the brush when attaching each brush head (provided the brush head you’re using has the little “o” with the parenthesis symbols to indicate it has RFID support). This doesn’t work at all on this toothbrush, including with the C3 heads I purchased after finding out the brush doesn’t come with what would make sense for it to come with. The warranty slip says that if you register the product you’ll get a free brush head. AFTER registering they tell you that the offer is no longer available, and they offer a 20% off code for use on the Philips website. They should inform you of this BEFORE you register, or at least go into these packages and remove all these slips or something. That’s ridiculous. Additionally, who’s going to buy brush heads from the Philips website? even if you try to take a look at pricing, with the 20% discount code 2 heads on the Philips website cost around $36 in my area (low tax state) with shipping included but on Amazon it’s about $32 for 3 of the same brush heads. So far I’ve only used it twice, once on a W head and once on a C head. The only difference seems to be the C mode has an additional 30 second run meant for whitening the front teeth. The manual describes how you can use it as a normal brush for your tongue, or while it’s on. It would make sense to include a portion of the timed brushing which is meant for use on the tongue, in that case. Is it not normal to brush your tongue? Aren’t people doing this? Why do the timers only account for teeth?I’ve noticed there’s a definite difference in power on this vs one of the original brushes from the 2000s that used AA or AAA batteries. It makes me drool and tickles. However, I did turn off the “EasyStart” mode, which is meant to gradually increase the power over 14 brushes.Holding it seems fine. It’s comfortable and doesn’t seem to have issues slipping out of the hand or being too heavy. For the price the biggest issue is the assortment of heads, probably… provided there isn’t some kind of serious premature failure. The case feels a bit cheap but it will probably do for travel.

Good toothbrush, make sure to clean it regularly.
This is my second Sonicare. I love it!One thing you have to be careful with is to routinely take off the head to clean the connection part. My last Sonicare had stuff growing there (ew!), and it couldn’t be removed. I tried poking at it to remove them and instead I accidentally removed some of the plastic holding the metal bar that moves, so I broke it.

Excellent toothbrush from a reputable brand so didn’t expect any less. Comes with extra brush heads, carrying case, and the extra modes are useful for timing with the built in buzzer to let you know when to switch focus to other areas of your mouth. The replacement reminder is also useful though I have not gotten to make use of it yet, and the brush itself spins quick with a decent design that cleans thoroughly!
